This Garage ceiling storage boat hanging system made it so much easier and less expensive than what I had planned in my mind. These kayaks weigh 49 lbs so with the 120 lb weight limit we have lots of weight to spare. The pulley system is smooth and the locking catch holds the boat weight while I tie up the rope around the wall rope hanger. Amazing well designed and very cost effective. I had no issues with the rope or hardware quality

Husband bought for kayak storage and just installed it in our garage this weekend. He was able to install it on his own and it works well-pretty easy to use and serves its intended purpose well. Good utilization of storage space for sure.

I used this to store my kayak over my car in my garage. Installation was pretty easy. Note that the instructions say to mount the brackets a distance of 2/3 the length of the kayak apart – this is NOT correct. You want to mount more like 1/3 the length of the kayak apart. I marked the 2/3 length, thought it looked too far apart, and moved them closer together. I mounted about 5 feet apart for a 10 foot kayak and it was still farther apart than I think is ideal. When the kayak was wet and I tried to hoist it, the straps slipped outward. I tied the straps together so they can’t slip off, but a better solution is mounting the bracket closer together.The breaking mechanism is a bit challenging to operate. I have not been able to lower the 2 ends of the kayak at the same time. The only way I can lower is to move the rope end almost directly below the break, hold one rope in each hand, pull both ropes toward the center of the kayak, and slowly raise one hand at a time, alternating, until the kayak is lowered all the way down.The rope supplied is very poor quality. I lifted and lowered my kayak 4 times and saw significant fraying (fraying was noticeable after the first lift/lower operation). I replaced the rope with a 1/4″ nylon braided rope from Home Depot and see no signs of fraying after lifting and lowering twice.For the price, this works just fine. I use it to store a 60lb kayak over my new car and I am NOT concerned about it failing and damaging my car.I took one star off due to the incorrect instructions, poor quality rope, and mediocre mounting hardware.
